Marathon volunteer

30/October/2011

There was the 2011 adidas Auckland Marathon. John and I had applied for a volunteer by Rayoung sis a few months ago.
I went at Victoria park by around 6:30 with Tori. We arranged in the finish zone to assist marathoners. My mission was encouraging marathoners and keeping moving to a chip correcting area.
At the first, I was a little bit shy but as time goes by I can shout loudly.
"Well done guys~ good job! please keep moving~. "
"Nice work guys~ please keep moving!"
"Sorry guys please don't stay here."
"Im sorry but please don't stop here."
"Chip corrects around the corner. Please keep moving!"
These are something that I spoke mainly.
It finished at around 12pm and then we drank some free beer lol~~ as well as had a addidas t-shirt, a red cap and some snacks.
Actually I had naver done a volunteer before even in Korea. It was really hard job dislike my thinking but really good experience.

First experience

25/October/2011

I took a message yesterday regarding a cafe assistant, so I contacted them in the morning and I went to the cafe for an interview.
It is not far from my home. It takes 10 minutes on the bus. Anyway I had some interview with her who seems owner and is a chinease. She seems to have a strong leadership. Anyway I have some preactice during around 30minutes. She let me know how to serve and clean stuff. After that, she said that she worried about my English skill. yes..I know that..I am not good at speaking English. Anyway she said that she will contact me today or tomorrow. I am just waiting her contact, but it is really hard time to me.Anyway I kind of hope I can work there! at Park Espresso!!

NSIA Barista Practice

Headache

6/Sep/2011

I drank Liesling wine for the first time. This wine's name is "Stoneleigh" which is made in Marlborough. Its flavour was sweet and I could feel some fizzy taste while its fruit flavour was less storng than Oyster Bay(Sauvignon Blanc) drunk by Jenny's suggestion last week. That reminds me it was made in Marlbotough as well. Even though I just took a sip of wine, I had have a headache because of overdrinking at weekend. Today's dinner menu which was a white sea food and Liesling wine was excellent harmony, but I couldn't enjoy them. I should rest... for a while byebye wine~

Bar person practice!

3/Sep/2011

I finished to practice in the school restaurant yesterday.
My position was a bar person. It was the first time to make drinks, but it was really interesting!
There was another bar person, who is a Chinese class mate. He had had exprience as a bartender, so I could make them by help of him. He kindly told me how to make them and made me comfortable.
I felt a bartender is such an attractive job. Moreover, beverage business can make lots of profits, as Catrina said, "Open a bar!" :D

Restaurant practice as a server

1/Sep/2011

I had restaurant practice as a server in my schol restaurant. I had prepared some English sentence for serving, because I was so nervous. This was effective and I became calm during preparing service. I took two tables and my first customers were Sri rankans. Fortunately they orderd same dishes, so I could serve easily. In the middle of time, I took the second order of customers who were maybe kiwi. Whenever I served, they always said "Thank you.", so I confused a little bit if I should always answer "You're welcome." or just smile. At that time, I just smiled except saying "you're welcome." one time. Now I think it seems  toi bep betteri tos answere "My pleasure."
Another episode is that some customer gestured as if he needs a pen for writing, so I gave my pen to him. He said "You're so organised." I didn't know the mean is quick at the moment. Anyway I was glad to have praise from the customer. He gave back the pen directly with leaving and saying "Thank you."
As a result of practicing, I think it was very hard physically (too heavy plates and standing too long time for around 4 hours), while it was good experience to have confidence for myself, though I made some mistakes.
I am doing as a bar person tomorrow. I hope it will be good time as well.

Italy

30/August/2011

It is my desire to visit Italy someday.
Actually, I don't know about Italy very well.
But I have already captivated by some of thouse films which is set in Italy. Letters to Juliet, Eat Pray Love, Between calm and passion and so on.
I remember some of those but forgot some ones, so I wanna watch again, especially Roman holiday. I just recall some famous scenes.
Maybe I will often serch on internet and then I am sure that I will fall in Italy more than now.
I dream that day when I go to Italy.

Every minutes seems like a thousand.

16/August/2011

Finally I have taken an email from immigration about my student visa.
It was a result from lots of inquiry and last call yesterday. As soon as checking an email in the morning, I was really glad to take that. By the way I should wait again, because I havn't got a label of my student visa yet. It will be sent to my school. Wendy, who is an online visa staff in my school, said she would send an email to me, when she get the label. Anyway I believe that it won't take a long time to take the contact and I sincerely hope I will have good things in the future. :)

two rabbits

9/August/2011

We had some activity about job interview in the class. There were two interviewer and one iterviewee. I played one of the interviewer role because it seemed easier than an interviewee. (but actually I need to practice job interview) We usually asked general questions such as " Could you introduce yourself a bit?", "Why do you apply for our restaurant?", "What experience do you have?", "Do you have any certificate?" and so on. Actually I couldn't be sure if the questions correct. Moreover I asked Di** ,who is a Sri Lankan, what she did before doing this course because she's lived in NZ for two years, but she just said she was studying Hospitality. Maybe she misunderstood or I mistook the question. In that situation, I couldn't ask her it exactly because I confused to make a sentence for myself. I have commonly had trouble to communicate my thoughts to someone with English, so I got really frustrated. Nowadays, I always think about just two things which are a job and English. How should I do to achieve these ones? How.. When.. What should I do?

Think over

8/August/2011

I have been a lazy life for a couple of weeks.I have a time in the morning because my class starts at 1pm, but I usually oversleep. Today, I have thought that I don't have to waste my valuable time any more. I will first study English in the morning. Actually I haven't kept my promise which is to do four parts of English study everyday. English is not choice but requisite for my flourishing life, so I have to keep this in mind.

English name..

01/August/2011
I don't have a English name, so sometimes people make a mistake to call my name. Whenever they call my name in error, I'm so depressed. Moreover, I often missed correcting my name, because I'm not confident enough. Is it necessary or useful to have English name? Is it selfish to keep my Korean name? I don't know what is best way.

Nosferatu

31/July/2011

Nowadays there is a film festival in Auckland, so we booked a film 'Nosferatu' which was the first vampire movie made by German in1922. It played with orchestra because of a silent film so that it was named live cinema. This was really new experience as well as Civic theater was considerably magnificent. Nosferatu's feature was actually ridiculous, so audiences sometimes were laughing despite serious scenes. Furthermore, there were some subtitles that some of those such as bird of death, doth not, fang, woman without sin and so on were quite impressive to me. I had such a interesting time! :)

Rich way...

31/July/2011

I have read a book written by Robert giyosaki. The book is the second one ( I already read the first one in korea.) which introduces 4 type people who earn different ways. He was explaining this throughout quadrant which had initial E, S, B and I respectively. The quadrant's left side has Employee and Self-employed and its right side has Business owner and Investor. Before reading book, I didn't know difference between self-employed and business owner. I want to be business owner but actually I was thinking to be self-employed. Self-employed have to work by himself so that he earns money while Business owner doesn't have to work everyday because of systems making money which is attractive indeed. I didn't read the whole book yet, but I'm really looking forward to changes after finishing the book.

MoHanDoJeon

30/July/2011
It was weekend! I was really exhausted because there were classes during 4 days for a long time. I stayed home and watched korean TV programme 'MooHanDoJeon' which is my favourite variety show because it has not only laughing but moving. Today, I also couldn't help laughing throughout this.
